The Challenge

Viridian Solar is an ISO certified UK manufacturer of roof integrated solar panels, based near Cambridge where all their solar products are also designed. They are pioneers in the manufacture of integrated solar solutions, amid a growing demand for better, more efficient solar panels in the UK construction industry. Bluecube were approached to support their transition from a traditional telephone system to a cloud-based system. In an increasingly competitive market, it was recognised that effective communication was the key to success.

Viridian faced the challenge of modernising their communications infrastructure to keep pace with the demands of a rapidly evolving industry. Retaining all established phone numbers was crucial for business continuity, and the company required a platform with advanced functionality, including secure call recording and archiving for industry compliance. As a productive organisation, Viridian Solar needed a solution that would enable seamless communication both externally with clients and internally among staff, supporting hybrid and remote work. In the initial consultation, Bluecube demonstrated a range of solutions, and it was clear that a flexible, cloud-based unified communications system would best meet Viridian Solar’s needs.

 

Project Timeline

After selecting Bluecube as their technology partner, Viridian Solar embarked on a phased transition to a modern communications platform. The organisation wanted to maintain desk phones for staff in the office while rolling out UCaaS licences for remote and hybrid work. Bluecube’s service delivery team worked closely with Viridian Solar to design the solution architecture, including inbound ring patterns, hunt groups, and user-specific rules. The account was built and configured to specification prior to installation. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, installations and training were conducted remotely, with equipment delivered ready to plug and play. Credentials and login information were provided to end users, and a comprehensive training programme was agreed upon to ensure a smooth transition.

Evolving Infrastructure & Efficiencies

Bluecube deployed a multi-user Wildix UCaaS solution for both the Cambridge head office and remote staff. Wildix Collaboration, a browser-based platform, allows users to log in securely from any device—laptop, PC, Mac, tablet, or smartphone—enabling true flexibility. The service delivery team collaborated with Viridian Solar to ensure the system was tailored to their workflow, applying features such as call routing, hunt groups, and real-time presence. The hybrid solution combined hardware and software to provide telephony, video calls, conferencing, chat, file sharing, and presence services. Remote installations and training ensured that staff could quickly adapt to the new system, and Bluecube’s ongoing support has helped maximise the benefits of the new infrastructure.
