The Challenge

Shard Capital faced several key challenges in modernising their communications infrastructure. Retaining all established phone numbers was critical to maintaining continuity with clients. The company also required a high level of functionality from their chosen platform, including secure call recording and archiving to meet industry compliance standards. As a fast-paced and productive organisation, Shard Capital needed a solution that would support seamless communication both internally and externally, while ensuring data security and regulatory compliance.

Project Timeline

Bluecube began by assessing Shard Capital’s existing telephony infrastructure and identifying the requirements for a compliant, cloud-based solution. All existing phone numbers were successfully ported to a Cisco Webex phone system, ensuring uninterrupted service. The transition was carefully managed to avoid disruption, with all voice traffic routed over a high-speed ethernet connection to guarantee optimal call quality. Bluecube collaborated closely with Shard Capital’s IT partner, Guidance Technologies, to deliver training and support, ensuring a smooth onboarding experience for all users.

Evolving Infrastructure & Efficiencies

The Cisco Webex hosted phone system implemented by Bluecube provided Shard Capital with a fully compliant, high-performance communication platform. The system integrates seamlessly with the company’s customer management system, enabling staff to manage calls more efficiently and access client information in real time. The cloud-based nature of the solution allows for scalability and flexibility, supporting remote work and mobile access. In March 2020, when the UK government mandated remote work due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Shard Capital was well-prepared. Employees were able to download and activate softphones on their laptops, PCs, or Macs, and continue working without interruption. The mobile application provided by Bluecube further enabled the team to remain productive while on the move.

Bluecube’s unified communications solution has not only improved operational efficiency but also contributed to revenue generation by enabling uninterrupted client engagement. The partnership between Shard Capital and Bluecube continues to evolve, with ongoing support and regular reviews to ensure the technology remains aligned with business goals.
